Indigenous leadership development: While it is every global partner's hope to one day be able to leave an indigenously-led church (or ministry) in the area they minister in, we expect that our partners will have a working plan to replace themselves (an "exit plan"). This will involve identifying a pool of "servant-leaders" to invest their lives in for the sake of reproducing themselves. Leadership identification and development is a critical part of discipleship, and discipleship can begin even before conversion. We recognize that the attainment of an indigenous leader may take lifetimes of effort, but there must be a plan to reproduce yourself, nonetheless.

Holistic, servant-evangelism: We believe Christ's mission in the world is redeeming and transforming in all areas of life - spiritual, physical, emotional, social, environmental, and economic; in individuals, families and communities. The hopeful message of Christ should therefore be demonstrated by a lifestyle of service to the seeking, and by caring for the community and environment you live in. We expect our partners to bring the Good News with a cup of cold water, and we believe that sometimes a cup of cold water is the beginning of the Good News.

Excellence in every effort: We want to partner with those who are committed to excellence in everything they do. This will be reflected in programs, communications, organization and stewardship of resources. We expect our partners to represent Christ well in all they do and say, in the context of the culture they work in.

These four guidelines not only describe the kind of partners we would commit to, but also describe the criteria we would use to identify potential global partners from within the family at SCF. Anyone who wishes to serve globally as an SCF partner must demonstrate these four guidelines in their life and work, minimally, as a Christ follower in their "home" community.
